Held on 22–23 June 2026 in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda, the Imara Basketball Camp brought young basketball players together around the theme “Sport Can Heal.”
The camp used basketball as a platform to promote mental health awareness, strengthen resilience, build confidence and encourage positive connections among young people.
Beyond the court, Imara aimed to inspire young people to dream big, believe in their potential and take action toward their goals rather than wait for opportunities to come to them. Through sport, shared learning and conversations about mental well-being, participants were encouraged to recognize their strengths, support one another and take an active role in shaping their futures.
At Refugee Basketball Academy, we believe sport is more than a game. It can create a sense of belonging, open conversations about mental health, nurture leadership and empower young people to turn hope into action.
